ACTRA Awards

From 1973-1986, awards for excellence in television were given as part of the ACTRA Awards (which see). In 1986, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television took over the Canadian English-language television awards as the Gemini Awards. Only the awards for writing are given here. The Margaret Collier Award is given to a writer or writing team for a body of work or for a significant contribution to the international profile of Canadian television. The awards for writing for children/youth were not offered until 1995. There were no 1991 Gemini Awards, but two editions were held in 1998 - 12th and 13th Gemini Awards. The winners receive a statue.
