Canadian Poetry Magazine Awards

1936-1967
English

For ten years after it began publishing the Canadian Poetry Magazine, the Canadian Authors Association offered cash prizes for the best poems in each issue. The entries for each year are listed in the order in which the winning works originally appeared in the magazine. In 1946, the Donald G. French Award for Poetry was instituted under the auspices of the magazine. It is not known when the French Award ceased to be offered, nor who won it. Some other prizes were given just once. The Seranus Memorial prize was presented in 1937, the Tweedsmuir Award (a medal from the Governor General) was given in 1938 and the Centennial Prize was awarded in 1967. There were cash awards for the various prizes.
